Where belonging meets sense of self. When “included” means “liked”. Society deems you can’t do it alone, yet you need to be independent enough to do it by yourself. And you wonder why all us Millennials have split personalities…
The most important pack to belong to is you. Whether you’re the new kid at the lunch table or have been at that same damn lunch table all your life, the ability to be your own company and your own cheerleader and your own pack will inevitably serve you well in the future. We all want a sense of belonging. It’s human nature. But when you can “like” a photo that includes everyone but you, and still feel genuinely, un-envious happy for that group that doesn’t include you, you have already won. For if there is on thing I’ve learned in this life it’s this: I’m not interested in competing with anyone – I hope we all make it.
