Life Observations: an argument, bagels, & iPad mags

contemplations and life observations, silly life observations / Friday, January 4th, 2013

On my lunch break, I saw a wife arguing with her husband about child care…words like, “why would you do that?” and “I’ll do whatever you want” and car doors slamming without a response as he drove away ensued. And she was on her lunch break too. And at that moment, I was glad I wasn’t married. You say you’ll never end up like “those couples”, but somewhere deep down inside, you know you will.—

Overheard on the bitterly cold walk to the train…” The wind chill is killer! Why would anyone in their right mind live here?” And that’s when I ask myself that same question and re-evaluate why I moved away from California at all.

Little things that make me happy…little goat’s logo and a bagel with cashew schmear topped with burnt goat cheese…yummy.

So I got an iPad mini for Xmas. And I fraking love it…but I’m a little late to the technology party, so I am finding it fascinating that, as a full-fledged magazine print reader, I am so enjoying the interactive magazines that are apps on my iPad. Just today I was freaking out because an ad (yes, an actual ad) was animated and I thought that was so cool that they took the time to think about that.  And I gotta say, I never really ‘read’ magazine articles all the way through, but Entertainment Weekly is proving to be more of an interactive experience than a magazine! Click on the cover titles to get to the actual page where the subject exists?! Brilliant! A button to see the trailer of the film that’s a ‘must see’?! How did I ever live without that?! Gotta say. I’m a fan.

Life Observations is the category where I vow to write something, post something, say something about anything I’ve observed at least once a week….if only to entertain myself and make everyone realize that if we don’t stop and look around every once in a while, we might miss something…
