Here’s something new: Water in my ear that won’t go away.
Here’s something new: Josh Groban in a baseball long-sleeve shirt and jeans in sneaks singing “God Bless America” during the All-star game…love him!
Here’s something new: Arm muscles that I didn’t know I had BURNING!
Here’s something old: I forgot to report yesterday on my something new….
So Monday I’m driving home from Glee practice, and I get lost. Anyone who knows me is now rolling their eyes saying, “Big surprise”. But instead of getting freaked out because I had no idea where I was (ended up I was in West Town-ish), I stumbled across an old favorite: The Chicago Academy for the Arts, my sister’s Alma mater. It was just funny because I never really knew where it was, and I was contemplating a decision based on the arts when I passed it, so it was like, SIGN. So that was Monday’s something new…getting lost yet finding the way.
Today’s new: Ow. Oh. MY arms hurt. My legs hurt. Muscles that I didn’t know existed in my upper back…H-U-R-T. But surprisingly, I am ok. Didn’t drown at my master’s swim class. No sire. At first, I was haunted by the freshman year gym class where all the awkward girls and all the horny guys did laps and I just wanted to die…but that didn’t last for long…the coach was like “Do freestyle for 100 meters”…I’m like, I got this, no problem…midway through the first 50…Houston, we have a problem. Shit, I didn’t remember it being THIS hard! So from then on out, I settled down. Didn’t try so hard. Took time outs. and an hour later, I’m feeling ENERGIZED. Go figure. I’m chatty Cathy (much to my friend’s chagrin) and I’m like Queen of the freakin’ Fortress. And then I get home…and I’ve been a zombie ever since…Still gonna show up on Thursday, if I’m not dead…but there is something about the silence of swimming…when your head is under water and you hear nothing but your breathing…that is very relaxing. Gasping for breath and almost up-chucking the big Mexican lunch I just had, not so much. But still…something new, something learned, and I have the sore muscles to prove it! Now if I could just get this stubborn water out of my ear…
